Maureen Denise McCormick, the sole daughter from Richard McCormick, and Irene McCormick, was born in Woodland Hills California on 5 August 1956. Her father taught in the school system and her mother was a stay-at-home mother. Michael Dennis, Kevin and Dennis are her three older brothers. McCormick has always loved performing, dancing and performing puppet shows. She was crowned her first contest, the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley Contest at age 6 and was approached via Pat Domigan, a talent agent of the Jack Wormser Agency. He was interested in her desire to join the show business. McCormick got her first big task in 1964 when she starred in a TV commercial featuring Mattels latest doll, Baby Pattaburp. She did another commercial in 1964, for the Mattels Chatty Cathy toy and soon she was given the leading character on Wind It Up and It is Broken, a show in the La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch McCormick's audition was among 1200 other children who auditioned for the role of the eldest daughter to be a part of The Brady Bunch. The show starred Florence Henderson and Robert Reed, newlyweds who had the same family as a blended one. The show lasted for five years. McCormick's autobiography Heres the Story, Surviving Marcia Brady: Finding My True Voice was released in the year 2008. The book revealed that McCormick almost lost her virginity on sets of the show in the fifth season, when she was a victim to Barry Williams. She was 16 years old when she was in the scene; he was 19. It would have happened she stated, but the time wasn't the right time for us.
