The early achievements of Maureen FitzSimons in the performing arts, which are now known by the name of Maureen O'Hara, would certainly have qualified her to the "child prodigy" category. This was a very natural trait for a girl from Irish descent, who was nurtured in her early years by talented family members and parents. Maureen entered this loving haven located in Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th, 1920. Marguerita FitzSimons' mom, Lilburn, was an contralto. Charles FitzSimons ran a Dublin firm, as well as owned shares in the Irish soccer team Shamrock Rovers. Maureen was the third of six FitzSimons children - Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen did well as a sporty woman and played rough, athletic sports when she was a young. Additionally her talent, she also had a knack to act. This is why she won the majority of the Feis Awards for dramatic and acting in her country of birth. By age 14 she was accepted into the world-renowned Abbey Theater and pursued her dream of classical theater along with operatic music.
